The excitement of the PLAST 2026 pre-show press tour was palpable as the journalists arrived at the second stop: the factories of Moretto, a true pioneer in the plastics processing industry. Let’s dive into this organized marvel of production, where cutting-edge manufacturing technologies and high levels of automation come together to guarantee the exceptional quality of Moretto’s equipment.

Founded in 1980, Moretto has climbed to the top of the market, establishing itself as a leader in automated systems for plastics processing. Headquartered in Italy, the company’s array of solutions includes everything from conveying equipment and dryers to coolers, temperature controllers, dosing units, and beyond.

Explore new multifunctional showroom

Recently, Moretto unveiled its new multifunctional showroom, a vibrant space designed for customers to explore both prime and innovative products. This hub not only showcases the latest offerings but also serves as a training ground for clients, fostering collaboration and accelerating R&D cycles.

During the visit, we were treated to a sneak peek of the innovations set to shine at PLAST 2026, including the latest models in the X Comb dryer series, the HYPER CUT grinder, and control systems like ONE WIRE and MOWIS. These advancements represent a significant leap forward from traditional systems, enhancing energy efficiency, usability, and performance.

The new ONE WIRE X PLUS is an AI-powered centralized conveying system that automatically controls speed without requiring any manual settings.

Starting this March, Moretto embarks on a European tour with its mobile showroom—a truck showcasing equipment and components for industry players who cannot make it to exhibitions.

Inside the production workshops

Next, journalists were given an exclusive look at the various workshops where Moretto’s core components come to life. We observed the injection molding production area, the extruder designed for producing flexible hoses, the welding co-bots, and the whirling machine that produces dosing units screws.

The metal works plant, equipped with 11 laser cutting systems, also houses presses and banding machines where metal sheets and pipes are precisely cut. Additionally, the custom painting line extends up to 60 meters, it also allows customers to request finishes in their chosen colors.

In a move towards greater control and quality assurance, Moretto is shifting to in-house production of equipment components, reducing reliance on suppliers and minimizing supply chain risks. Every component in the factory is traceable through the comprehensive Management Information System (MIS).

The company has also invested in over 20 automatic warehouse systems to enhance both storage and component traceability. Excitingly, plans are underway for a new plant spanning 13,000 square meters, which will seamlessly integrate with existing facilities.

Embracing supercomputing and AI development

At the forefront of technological advancement, Moretto is harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to propel its development. Since 2009, the company has been making waves with the Leonardo supercomputer, enabling unparalleled mathematical simulations for parallel computing.

The Leonardo supercomputer serves as a vital asset for research and development at Moretto.

Within the in-house research laboratory—equipped with state-of-the-art instruments and simulators—solutions are put to the test and refined, achieving results previously thought impossible.

Moreover, Moretto has rolled out an AI-assisted service desk platform, revolutionizing their support services by optimizing data analysis and providing rapid, precise responses to their expert team amidst complex dynamics.
