On August 6, 2026, the 14th Edition CPRJ Plastics in Packaging Conference and Showcase was successfully held in Shanghai, China. According to the organizers, the event drew an attendance of over 750 participants.

This conference was jointly held by Adsale Group and Shanghai Packaging Technology Association. With more than 40 presentations covering multiple key areas in plastic packaging industries – from consumption trends to implementation of green packaging, from AI use to smart manufacturing upgrade, and from material innovation to production efficiency enhancement.

Joyce Ye, Deputy Project Director of Adsale Publishing Ltd., gave her welcome remarks. She introduced packaging related projects and the upcoming Circular Resources and Recycling Expo (CRRE) in November 2026 at Suzhou, China.

At his welcome remarks, Hongjun Wu, Deputy Secretary - General from China Packaging Federation, stated that the packaging industry is undergoing a dual-transformation: regulation change and market upgrading.

Qixi Qian, President of Shanghai Packaging Technology Association, pointed out that implementation of PPWR gives a clear direction and business opportunities to packaging companies.

Kehong Hu, Deputy Secretary - General of Zhejiang Health Products Cosmetics Industry Association, presented on the current situation of cosmetics and health product industry in Zhejiang province and the packaging demand in the industry.

The welcome remarks from Lin Wu, Founder of PKG FAMILY, covered intelligentization, green, and sustainability, presenting Chinese packaging to the world.

AI is one of the most important topic in this year’s conference:

AI is also transforming production of creative goods – 86% creators are using AI tools during their product design stage. Focusing on industrial packaging ecosystem, Chaoqun Li, General Manager of Packaging Business at JINGDONG industrials, shared how digital intelligence supply chain improves efficiency in packaging companies.

Fujian Liu, Technical Director of Shanghai Zijiang Enterprise Group Co., Ltd., explored the digital intelligence development of plastic packaging companies.

How brands strike balance among user experience, cost, and sustainability?
As consumers put more emphasis on user experience, environmental concern, and brand recognition, packaging becomes a key media for brand to communicate with consumers.

Roc Zhang, Senior Manager of Packaging Development at Lee Kum Kee Sauce, shared the practice of innovative packaging for condiment, with a focus on food safety, user experience, and sustainable development.

Chunyan Lin, Head of Sustainable Development in Greater China at Oatly (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., presented on carbon label for oat milk packaging. The label reveals product carbon footprint to consumers, representing a new means for green messages and communication with consumers.

Chuchu Shi, Supply Chain Manager of Hangzhou Gengxiang Biological Technology Co., Ltd., shared the sustainable development practices of JUNPING brand, showing green packaging of the cosmetic brand. The packaging replaces conventional plastic with 60% modified calcium carbonate material. With a replaceable inner design, material consumption is reduced more than 80%.

Sophia Su, Packaging CoE APAC of Henkel (China), discussed the sustainability journey of Henkel’s consumer goods packaging.

Hendry Feng, Sales Director of HP Indigo Flexible Packaging in Greater China of HP Inc., shared the latest application and successful stories of HP Indigo Flexible Packaging.
Material innovation and global expansion: New growth for packaging enterprises
New markets and emerging applications are actively driving packaging innovation.
Conference speakers shared valuable insights on expanding application boundaries through the lenses of technological upgrades, market expansion, and evolving consumer trends.
As brands increasingly demand higher performance, greater efficiency, and distinct differentiation, material innovation and manufacturing optimization have become foundational pillars for packaging upgrades. Concurrently, shifting global dynamics present fresh challenges and opportunities, prompting enterprises to focus heavily on regional consumer behaviors, regulatory compliance, and cross-border packaging strategies.
Beyond traditional sectors like food and cosmetics, emerging consumer landscapes, such as the pet economy and pre-made food—are unleashing brand-new packaging demands. Consequently, developing functional, convenient, and competitive packaging solutions tailored to these diverse scenarios has emerged as a new frontier for the packaging industry.

Alex Lim, Senior Project Manager, Malaysian Recycling Alliance talked about building a collaborative ecosystem for packaging circularity from the perspective of the Malaysian recycling industry.

Lei Wang, Initiator of CPCRA Pet Industry Development Conference/Executive Vice President and Secretary at Guangdong Pet Industry Association discussed the latest trends of packaging for the pet economy.

Xiaotian Zhu, Brand Director of Aier at Ronsy Pet Food, drew on overseas pet market trends to share insights on how pet food packaging can help brands elevate their product competitiveness.
