SABIC's laser-weldable material for PV manufacturing wins R&D 100 Award
SABIC has been recognized with a R&D 100 Award for its breakthrough NORYL V0 resins, the first-of-its-kind laser-weldable specialty material engineered for the solar energy market.

NORYL V0150TW (absorptive) and V0150IR2 (transmissive) resins uniquely combines flame retardancy, improved weatherability, and superior sealing performance, enabling faster and cleaner manufacturing of photovoltaic microinverters while significantly enhancing their reliability and outdoor stability.
It helps lower energy consumption, reduce material waste and manufacturing costs – all contributing to accelerating renewable solar adoption, an energy source that brings lasting environmental and societal benefits.
NORYL V0 Resins also received an Edison Award this year in the Materials Science category, highlighting SABIC’s contribution to industrial progress and advancing its vision of becoming the preferred world leader in chemicals.
The awards in the Materials Science category demonstrates SABIC’s leadership in innovation and its continuous efforts to advance the global adoption of solar energy through materials that help improve manufacturing efficiency and long-term component performance.
