LyondellBasell and Pigeon Singapore collaborate in bio-based PP nursing bottles

Jan 4, 2024

LyondellBasell and Pigeon Singapore collaborated on advancing sustainability and development of Pigeon’s baby nursing bottles by incorporating LyondellBasell’s bio-based polypropylene (PP).

The renewed series of Pigeon nursing bottles use LyondellBasell bio-based CirculenRenew polypropylene polymers to transition the use of 100% virgin PP resins.

Bio-based CirculenRenew polypropylene polymers are used in the cap and hood of the renewed Pigeon SofTouch T-Ester, PPSU and Glass nursing bottle, and in the cap, hood and bottle of the PP nursing bottle and PP straw bottle. They are also used in the bottle handle of the PP straw bottle.

Bio-based CirculenRenew PP are used in cap and hood of renewed Pigeon SofTouch T-Ester, PPSU and Glass nursing bottle (first three from the left), and in cap, hood and bottle of the PP nursing bottle and PP straw bottle.

The renewed series of Pigeon SofTouch nursing bottles made with CirculenRenew was introduced in Indonesia from December 2023, followed by the rest of the markets in Southern Asia, Middle East, Africa and Oceania in 2024.

More on the material

This is the first time for LyondellBasell CirculenRenew grades used in baby products.

The CirculenRenew polymers are made from renewable feedstocks derived from bio-based wastes and residual oils, such as used cooking oils.

They are allocated to CirculenRenew products using an ISCC PLUS-certified mass balance approach. CirculenRenew PP has a 70% lower product carbon footprint than fossil-based PP over the life cycle due to the use of bio-based feedstock.
