Dow introduces new POE-based artificial leather for automotive seating.

Dow’s new POE leather offers a list of advantages in terms of functionality and aesthetics, including:

  • Ultra-soft tactility with better color stability that allows more design flexibility on the choice of color, especially light colors

  • Good aging and low temperature resistance which meet strict requirements of automotive industry

  • Elimination of hazardous chemicals, plasticizers and heavy-metals materials

  • Low volatile organic compounds (VOC) and odor

  • 25%-40% lighter in weight than PVC leather due to lower density

Beyond automotive, this innovative option can be applied in other applications including sporting goods, furniture, and fashion and accessories.

The POE alternative leather was commercialized by HIUV Materials Technology, a China-based partner and qualified by an electric car manufacturer in their auto seating application.
