Titanium dioxide features outstanding whiteness, opacity, pigment ability and coverage. It is also chemically stable, and heat and weather resistant. It is suitable for application in paint, plastics and rubber, papermaking, ink and so on.

At CHINAPLAS 2024, CITIC Titanium Industry Co., Ltd. showcases a range of titanium dioxide products, highlighting the technologically advanced features including high purity, high reflectiveness, high coverage and high lightfastness.

Weigang Wang, General Manager of the Sales Department at CITIC Titanium, introduces that the company’s production process involves chloride process, which takes place at their production plant in Jinzhou city, Liaoning. The products are widely applicable in paint, plastic, papermaking and ink.

For example, CR-230 titanium dioxide features excellent resistance to heat and yellowing in high-performing engineering plastic application such as ABS and TPE. At the same time, the product also works well in foaming material for shoes and rubber.

He also points out that focusing on the requirement for high reflectiveness in photovoltaic and specialty plastic, CITIC Titanium is customizing R&D for electronics and emerging industries including waterborne car paint, high-end waterborne ink, specialty engineering plastic, filter and multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC).

CITIC Titanium continued to release production capacity in 2023, with significant growth in operating income. In overall, this is a substantial improvement compared to 2022, with applications in plastics and papermaking markets witnessing significant increase.

Wang states that the global economic recovery was slower than expected in 2023. Affected by the real estate industry, demand in paint market, a main application of titanium dioxide, has not yet restored. In general, titanium dioxide market is in slow recovery pace.

“Market seems to have gotten out of the bottom, yet recovery still takes time. Under the present market condition, collaboration across the industry is a consensus,” adds Wang.
