ENGEL to debut WINTEC series for Asian market at CHINAPLAS

ENGEL, the Austrian injection molding machine manufacturer, will debut the WINTEC series, specially developed for the Asian market, at CHINAPLAS 2024. Demonstration of other exhibits will also be taken place at its booth.

Global premiere of WINTEC series

ENGEL is extending the WINTEC portfolio for CHINAPLAS, adding the t-win SE as a new series in the two-platen model portfolio. Additionally, the launch of the e-win sees the first all-electric WINTEC model range enter the market.

The t-win SE is the latest addition to the two-platen series and specifically tailored to the needs of the Asian markets. The series will be available in 6,500 kN, 10,500 kN and 18,000 kN sizes for Asian market.

At the fair, a new WINTEC t-win SE 6500-2310 is showcasing an efficient system solution for the production of fog light surrounds made of polypropylene. The components are injected into a two-cavity mold created by a local mold maker and taken off by a WINTEC α-win linear robot.

In addition to the t-win SE, the all-electric e-win series is also celebrating its first showing at CHINAPLAS.

Tie-bar-less solution for precise optical parts

Another exhibit, the tie-bar-less ENGEL victory 120, in combination with the optimelt process, will demonstrate plasticizing components for PMMA developed and manufactured in-house allow for gentle processing of the melt, preventing yellowing and burn marks.

The tie-bar-less clamping unit supports precise molding of long and thin parts thanks to its particularly homogeneous clamping force distribution. This makes the machine ideal for manufacturing particularly long light guides of consistently high optical quality.

In addition, the tie-bar-less design means that even very large molds can be used on comparatively small injection molding machines. The exhibit on show is with a clamping force of just 1,200 kN. Compared to this, a tie-bar machine would need a significantly higher clamping force due to the space required for the mold.

Insert series for future mobility

A vertical injection molding machine from the insert series, the insert 100, will also be exhibited. It is used to produce bipolar plates for fuel cells with a silicone seal in just one work step.

The insert 100's process optimization for over-molding complex structures makes it easier to functionalize parts.

The particularly small footprint of the vertical machine and its ergonomic work area ensure efficient production of complex material composite parts. Also, the precise servo-hydraulic drives of the insert simplify over-molding with complex geometries and part functionalization, even for materials which are difficult to process.

Nevertheless, the easily accessible mold area also allows for easy integration of upstream and downstream automation. An ENGEL easix 6-axis robot is used for parts handling in the application on show.

skinmelt process for greener logistics

To push forward the developments for circular economy, ENGEL introduces the skinmelt process. It enables the use of recycled material in a wide range of plastic products without compromising on the optical and mechanical quality of the parts.

ENGEL promotes the concept of circular economy with duo 700 and the skinmelt process.

At CHINAPLAS, ENGEL will demonstrate how transport containers with a high proportion of PCR material can be manufactured using this process. The achievable recycled material content is at a high level of over 50%. The recycled material is hidden in the core of the logistics box and completely encapsulated with virgin material.

The entire process can be easily controlled by the CC300 control unit. This application is based on the duo 700 two-platen machine, with a viper 40 linear robot taking care of parts handling.

The iQ weight control digital assistance program ensures process-assured plasticizing and injection of the recycled material monitoring the shot weight in real time and compensating for fluctuations in the material properties in a fully automated way, ensuring reliably constant filling of the cavity.
