Stork to demo rPET packaging with high-speed injection molding machine at Fakuma
Stork IMM, a Netherlands-based injection molding machine manufacturer for packaging market, will showcase its new high-speed injection molding machine specifically designed to convert recycled PET at Fakuma 2024.
The 4400-3550 machine and the oval 1L container made of PET and rPET.
Developed in partnership with Brink Moulds & Automation and rPET supplier Alpla, the 440-ton 4400-3550 machine can produce an oval 1L container made of 50% PET and 50% rPET.
The new machine can reach injection pressures up to 3000 bar and speeds up to 900 mm/sec to achieve consistent thin wall thicknesses. It also features an optimized screw and valve geometry. Continuous, high-speed production results in a cycle time of 6.2 sec, producing 580 parts per hour.
The produced container features high level of sustainability, a complex geometry and a tamper-evident and watertight closure.
At Fakuma, Stork IMM will demonstrate its new high-speed machine, paired with Brink’s custom mold, to produce the two-cavity oval 1L container. As part of Stork’s Foodline product offering, the 4400-3550 machine is commercially available.
