Jun 26, 2025

SK Chemicals has signed an exclusive partnership agreement with Dumont, an Austrian automotive materials company, for rPET-based automotive carpets.

SK Chemicals and Dumont signed the exclusive partnership agreement at SK Chemicals’ headquarters Eco Lab in Pangyo, South Korea.

According to this agreement, SK Chemicals will supply SkyPET CR, a recycled PET, to Dumont. Paarang, a domestic logistics company, will support smooth communication and operations between SK Chemicals and Dumont.

The core of this agreement is to gradually replace existing materials, such as nylon, used in vehicle mat production with SkyPET CR, thereby increasing the sustainability of automobiles.

The three companies have previously succeeded in manufacturing yarn optimized for vehicle mats and mass-producing finished mats using SK Chemicals’ CR PET material solution.

More on SkyPET CR

SkyPET CR is a recycled PET that utilizes SK Chemicals’ chemical recycling technology, which recycles waste plastics at the molecular level, and can be recycled even after use.

In particular, by using chemical recycling technology, unlike general recycling, it can maintain high quality close to new products based on petroleum raw materials even after repeated recycling, making it a material of choice for establishing a complete circular system.

As a result, it is expected to be able to respond to related regulations such as the End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) directive centered on the European Union (EU).
