JSW launched a two-platen, ultra-large electric injection molding machine with a clamping force of 4,000 tons, meeting the increasing demand for lighter components for electric vehicles.

Currently, hydraulic systems are the mainstream in the 4,000-ton injection molding machine market. However, hydraulic systems require significant power consumption, cooling water, and hydraulic oil usage. Also, the maximum speed and acceleration of mold opening/closing and injection operations are low, making it difficult to shorten the production cycle.

Therefore, JSW has adopted an electric system in the machine to achieve high productivity, energy efficiency, and high quality.

More on the new 4,000-ton machine

The new machine features improved productivity with industry's fastest dry cycle improves productivity by 10% compared to the latest hydraulic systems. Due to its electric system, there is little variation and short start-up time, improving the operating rate.

Compared to hydraulic systems, power consumption is reduced by 15-20%, cooling water consumption is reduced by 50%, and hydraulic oil consumption is reduced by 70%. These also result in annual CO2 emissions reduced by 15-20% compared to hydraulic systems.

The machine also features long life and robust design with its high rigidity mold platen, high-performance movable platen support mechanism, and high rigidity clamping bed.
