swop 2025 celebrates 10th anniversary with whole packaging value chain
As globalization advances and China steps up efforts to meet its “dual-carbon” goals, the packaging industry is entering a new phase of transformation driven by intelligence, sustainability and flexibility.
Reflecting these trends, Shanghai World of Packaging (swop) will celebrate its 10th anniversary and to be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from November 25 to 27, 2025.

swop 2024.
The show will occupy approximately 70,000 m² and feature more than 950 exhibitors, presenting the latest trends and end-to-end solutions across the packaging value chain. It will debut new initiatives and innovations, exploring the future of packaging together.
Highlight: Extreme Packaging Challenge
A highlight of swop 2025 is the “Extreme Packaging Challenge”, an immersive feature that offers industry professionals a fast, intuitive, and interactive platform to evaluate and select packaging solutions.
The interactive zone concentrates on four key areas: packaging containers, production equipment and materials, smart packaging equipment, and packaging products for logistics and e-commerce.
From material innovations to intelligent systems, the Extreme Packaging Challenge presents frontier technologies through a series of playful, hands-on experiments. Visitors can identify integrated, one-stop solutions that reduce costs and improve efficiency across food, logistics and e-commerce sectors.
Live demo on show floor
On the show floor, exhibitors will stage live demonstrations that turn technical specifications into observable performance.
Selected highlights include:
a paper-bag handle that can be folded 200 times without breaking, demonstrating exceptional durability
an ultra-thin, steel-core strapping tape that nevertheless withstands loads up to 1,000 jin (500 kg / ≈1,102 lb)
PLA cling film shown in exhibitor tests to begin biodegrading under home-composting conditions within 72 hours
a PP resealable bag that survives being stood on by a 180-jin (90 kg / ≈198 lb) test weight without tearing
AI-powered visual sorting systems capable of identifying and classifying a wide range of items
ice-cream cups rated for reliable use at temperatures as low as −30 °C
molded pallets that still support loads up to 2 tonnes (≈4,409 lb) after 28 days of immersion
Addressing global and key industry concerns
swop 2025 will spotlight global packaging compliance and cutting-edge technologies, with on-site briefings and sessions addressing key industry concerns:
EU regulatory restrictions on bisphenols: compliance challenges for food-contact packaging manufacturers and practical compliance strategies
Improving logistics packaging reliability: practical takeaways and case-study analysis on International Safe Transit Association (ISTA) testing standards
Cutting-edge international technologies and sustainable solutions: national pavilions and delegations from Germany, Spain, Finland and other countries will concentrate on frontier advances in digitalization, smart automation and low-carbon, sustainable packaging solutions.
