As announced on October 16, 2025, in “Polyplastics to split under Daicel Group’s reorganization plan”, Daicel Corporation has resolved to succeed to the entire business of Polyplastics Co., Ltd., excluding the business of holding and administering shares of its subsidiaries and affiliates, through an absorption-type company split effective April 1, 2026.

Under this split, Polyplastics (Japanese entity) will be divided into the engineering plastics business and the business of holding and administering shares of Polyplastics Group subsidiaries.

Daicel will comprehensively succeed to the engineering plastics business and operate it as the “High Performance Polymers SBU”.

Following the split, Polyplastics will remain as a shareholding company managing Polyplastics Group subsidiaries.

At the same time, it has been resolved to change its corporate name to HPP Holdings Co., Ltd., effective April 1, 2026. In line with this change, the names of Polyplastics Group subsidiaries in Japan and overseas will also be sequentially updated to include the High Performance Polymers (HPP) designation, with April 1, 2026, as the target date.

This split is based on the concept of creating a “New Daicel”. By integrating Polyplastics’ engineering plastics business into Daicel, the company aims to maximize corporate value through:

  • Sharing know-how in technical services and solutions

  • Polyplastics’ area of strength

  • Strengthening closer coordination with Daicel’s Safety SBU and Materials SBU

  • Leveraging talent for the growth of the entire Daicel Group

  • Improving efficiency of corporate functions

The supply of products and services in the engineering plastics business will continue under Daicel, maintaining and enhancing quality and content, while striving to deliver even greater value to all stakeholders.
