Arburg to show live production on multi-component injection molding at Fakuma 2026

Sep 21, 2026

At Fakuma 2026, Arburg will present a turnkey solution centered around an Allrounder More 2000 with live production of two-colored dominoes using a 32-cavity hot runner mold from Polarform and Hasco.

At Fakuma 2026, a multi-component Allrounder More 2000 with a 32-cavity mould from Polarform and Hasco will be producing 32 two-coloured dominoes from ABS.

Allrounder More: More space, modularity and convenience

The machines in the More series offer plenty of space for larger molds, turning units, media connections and a usable ejector stroke.

As standard, they have a highly dynamic electric toggle clamping unit with energy-efficient liquid-cooled servomotors, two electric injection units and a choice of either 1,600 or 2,000 kN clamping force.

Thanks to their highly modular design and numerous optimized features for greater ease of operation and simple maintenance, the Allrounder More can be adapted very flexibly to the respective customer and market requirements. This means that all common multi-component applications can be implemented and are easy to combine with a range of different processes, e.g. liquid silicone injection molding.

Mold for 32 different 2C components

At Fakuma 2026, the Allrounder More 2000 with a clamping force of 2,000 kN is equipped with a size 400 horizontal injection unit and a size 170 vertical injection unit. A 32-cavity mold from Polarform with hot runner technology and standard parts from Hasco are also used.

The additive manufacturing of the hot runner system enables interlaced runners. This saves space, resulting in smaller molds or a higher number of cavities. In a cycle time of around 60 seconds, 32 two-colored domino bricks are produced from ABS.

The mold movement is generated using a two-stage core pull concept. The front side of the dominoes is created by first injecting a light grey ABS component via the vertical injection unit. With the mold closed, two hydraulic cylinders then retract the cores and the individual number of pins.

This creates space in the cavities for the second, mint-green ABS component. This is injected via the horizontal injection unit and fills the back of the bricks and their indentations on the front.

In this way, 28 bricks are produced in a An autonomous automation cell handles the pre-assembly of the boxes, which are folded and then fed into the injection molding machinell the number-pair combinations from 0:0 to 6:6 needed to create a complete set of dominoes, also featuring four other dominoes that simply show the logos of the partners.

Complete: Autonomous automation cell

Within the production cell, a Multilift V 30 removes the finished molded parts from the mold and places them down on a conveyor belt. The vertically operating robotic system, with a load capacity of 30 kilograms, is equipped with a complex gripper from Kiki and is fully integrated into the Gestica control system.

After a linear Multilift V 30 has placed 32 dominoes on a conveyor belt, a cobot takes over the subsequent packaging of the complete ready-to-use set of dominoes.

An autonomous automation cell pre-assembles the boxes, which are folded and then fed to the injection molding process. Moreover, an autonomously operating mobile cobot is on a worktable outside the safety fence. A camera system in its gripper detects the precise position of the box and lid previously placed anywhere on the table and transmits these coordinates for the correct gripping position.

The cobot then progressively removes eight dominoes from the conveyor belt, stacks them in four layers in the box and fits a lid to it. The staff at the machine hand out the completed domino set to visitors as a give-away.
