Full house: Packaging and eco-friendly solutions discussed at Tech Talk

Focused on hot topics on advanced packaging and eco-friendly solutions respectively, the Tech Talk forum held yesterday was a full house. At the forum, leading suppliers introduced their latest technologies and products to the audience.

In the morning sessions with the spotlight on development in packaging, Kraiburg TPE discussed how the company’s safe and specially developed materials enhance the functions and quality of flexible packaging.

The packaging industry is accelerating sustainable development. In view of this, DOW talked about the latest innovations that empower higher circularity in flexible packaging.

Bioplastics are gaining wider applications in various industries. According to Anhui BBCA Biochemical, advanced biomaterials made from crop stalks can create different types of products. Among these, the PLA modified atmosphere preservative film was developed for food package applications, reducing converters’ carbon footprint.


For the sessions on eco-friendly solutions scheduled in the afternoon, chemical and material suppliers shared their recent development in promoting sustainability.  


Regarding additive solutions, Avient explained how the company’s innovative color and additive solutions address circular economy challenges; SI Group talked about stabilization solutions for plastics and elastomers; Nouryon introduced Expancel microspheres, which are multi-functional additives; and Americhem discussed how to create a differentiated competitive advantage for synthetic fibers.


Discussing the impact of recycling in plastics industry, Eastman introduced the high performance copolyester plastics based on Eastman chemical recycling technology in detail; HEXPOL TPE shared its insights on reducing carbon footprint of TPE applications by using recyclates. 

Meanwhile, Shandong Lecsin Green Technology highlighted the launch of CO2-based multifunctional plastic, the world’s first carbon reduction material. 


Today, the morning sessions of Tech Talk cover automotive plastics solutions, especially with an emphasis on e-mobility and sustainable solutions. In the afternoon sessions, topics on 3D printing and this year’s new materials are discussed.


Medical Plastics Conference sets off this morning


It is noteworthy that the Medical Plastics Conference kicks off this morning. In the three-hour conference, many topics related to medical plastics are discussed, with some presentations by renowned chemical and material suppliers. 


Among them, Wanhua Chemical introduces its medical material solutions that facilitate the development of the big health industry; new applications of Arkema materials in interventional catheters are discussed; Covestro shares the new portfolio of hyper chemical resistant polycarbonates. 


Besides, Monapoli Technology talks about hydrophillic polyarylene ether sulfone materials and their applications in the medical industry. On international standards, Nelson Labs discusses the new biocompatibility requirements in ISO 10993-1 Committee Draft and FDA Guidance.


For visitors who are interested in learning more about medical antibacterial dressing, Xuejia Ding, Professor of Beijing University of Chemical Technology, presents a detailed study on this topic. Besides, Micro-Tech (Nanjing) Co., Ltd introduces the application of polymer materials in digestive endoscopy consumables. 


To fulfill the purchasing demand from the medical industry, the Medical Plastics Business Matching event is also organized in this afternoon.
